My current setup is a MacDev Drone DX, Pinokio, and 68/45. I have, of course, the pack and jersey and everything else already. We're focusing on hardware here. My main concern is that, on the field, it just doesn't feel reliable. It gives me an iffy vibe. My friend loves it, but maybe the gun or loader just doesn't like me. Sometimes the pinokio doesn't feed, and I have to turn it off and back on to get it to work. Even with fresh batteries. I don't want to have this problem when I'm playing 5v5 in the NCPA...
Maybe it's just an issue of my loader, I'm the second or third owner, but what do you guys think? I personally prefer poppits, and before I got the Drone, the Etek 3 never chopped a single ball. Maybe that's just lucky, or maybe that's cause the Etek was capped at 15.4 bps while the Drone has no built in cap. I chop (not barrel breaks, bolt chop) when I go full auto (eyes on) to empty my last 100 paintballs of the day in the chrono station. Even with my friend's rotor. I don't know what the problem is, I have plenty of air when I shoot it. I think my dwell is set to about 9 ms.
Im pretty sure the DX has capped and uncapped settings for semi and PSP. If your having breech ball breaks with 2 different hoppers, reset your board to factory and start from there.
I dunno, for some reason I just loved the two 09's (planked) that I've played with. I've always been a spool guy, but there was just something about those 09's.
I'll probably end up with an 08 or 07 though because of the price. I'm trying to go cheap.
the thing with the 2011 ego, if its not tuned right, or the user just blindly accepts someone else settings, it will most likely shoot like crap... i had a vicious ego11 that i spent countless hours tuning, and it was by far smoother then any g6r i've ever shot, and cycled just as fast... i was hitting peak ROF of 26.1 over a chrono, and averaged 11 pods off a 68/4500 fill... in my opinion the only thing a tuned g6r has over a tuned ego11 is soft sounding shot and efficiency... i hate egos in general, always felt that in general the shot quality was shit, but they are work horses... not hte case with teh 11... i love the ego11... one of the smoothest stacked tube poppets i've shot.... not, as far as modern electros go, the victory is by far my favorite...
Damn, i only average 17bps . i guess its too late for this old fart.
I share the same view. i got an ego 8 in a trade where one LPR spring was missing and it can still fire, roughly to say the least.
I have always been intrigued by inline poppets, by their design alone, i can see how they could shoot smooth like a spool with the efficiency of a poppet, but sadly i havent ran into a vic or a marq in the BST cheap enough.
a non planked ego9 will cycle faster... planket ego9 will be slightly smoother... either way, in my eyes, the ego9 was the worst ego ever made... shot like shit no matter what you did to it... if you are looking at an ego9, get a vice instead, it outperforms every ego 2010 model year and back...
I haven't shot a vice, but if it really shoots like a G6r, then, IMO, it can even outperform an 11. That being said, I prefer the shot of my spec r than my son's 11.
