Stripped Dye DM4 eye cover screw

10 August 2014 - 04:19 PM

Hi everyone,

I am working on a Dye DM4 for a guy and I am doing a lot of stuff to it because it is in very poor shape internally. Well, I have already had to take out one stripped rear frame screw by making a cut in it and taking it out with a flat head screw driver, but I've run into a problem. One of the eye cover screws that is behind the eye cover itself is still screwed in and is stripped. It is a VERY tiny screw and hole down to it and I have no idea how to get it out. I tried pushing the Allen wrench up against the edge of the screw head and trying to get it to hook on it and that didn't work. I also tried using a flat head screw driver but it is just stripped way to bad for that too. I've only thought of one other thing and that is to glue the Allen wrench to the head and try taking it out like that. I'm afraid the glue will also connect to the eye cover and even if I get it out I will not be able to take the screw off the eye cover.

If you have any ideas PLEASE let me know!

Thanks,

Justin B.

This is just a very slight bubble where somehow (before I got it) the pin that holds the back cap in, was screwed in a bit too far. The other little mark above it is just a piece of dust.

Saw this posted on PBN. This looks awesome! Jack has confirmed that it fits all geos! I assume that means all the ones with a screw in back cap because the GSL and other new PE markers already have this engine.

7/29/2014:

It looks like something new is coming 8/2/14 (Europeans do the month/date backwards), which is this Saturday. Summerjam 2014 is an event in Germany, so I imagine there will be an announcement there.

Speculation from the thread:

I bet PE is coming out with a empire defender/Dye DAM rival.
I looked up PE's patents, and on 05-08-2014 they submitted this one:
http://www.faqs.org/...app/20140123970
Now the title says "Method and apparatus for transferring paintballs"
soo loader right?
well, if you look at the patent's pictures you see the one below. Looks like they slapped it on a geo. Obviously not a finished product. Anyways, it's similar to the defender and not too far from the dye DAM/box rotor.
It's cool that planet finally target that audience. Do you guys think I'm right?
I was hoping for a new geo or the next LV gun, but I think this is the most likely scenario.

Seems to be rotating into a new Geo logo to me but that spiral loader patent seems really interesting too. Is Summer Jam a scenario event or just a gathering?

I found this on the FB event page too though it could be anything:
"The new hot ****: exclusive world premiere of some products .... "

What glue to use on V1 Victory back cap magnet?

25 July 2014 - 01:41 PM

So one of the magnets on my victory came out I noticed today and I'm not sure what type of glue to use. It's the magnet on the engine itself not the back cap. I have modeling glue that is fully cured in 2 minutes called cyanoacrylate but it leaves a white residue around the glued area I know and I'm not sure how well it would bond metal. I'm just wondering should I use epoxy, super glue, hot glue, etc.

Thanks,

Justin B.
