If you let them know what you have in the bag up front, they do a special hand search of the bag in front of you and slap a special contents FAA sticker on the bag. As long as there is not a thief in the back room grabbing bags marked firearms, you'll be good to go. I have done it in the past with Southwest and had no issues.

Yes yes yes. Not that I'll roll in any earlier, but it will allow me to be lazy and still get it all done. The crowd will be spread out and that is better.

You could also check with the local Post Office if USPS is your shipping method. Some have package drop boxes that are big enough to accept that size item that are open sorts of hours or outside. Also UPS and FedEx drop boxes are an option if you ship that way.
I've never flown JetBlue and this is just another good reason. Southwest is the way to travel if possible. Two checked bags free and tanks welcome!

Please add in The Mouthy Mimes and The New England Immortals to the Pegasus Legion. We will bring honor and pride to The New Empire and fight with our brothers to wipe The Horde from our lands.

To lessen the lines, I would suggest a secondary marker chrono test area that people can use their own hand helds to get tuned before wasting time at the official chronos. Perhaps some referees with their on field hand helds to help out too. That way you can avoid some of the mess like at West Point last spring. In the beginning, it was a good 30 minutes in line to get into the fight for the Allies. People tinkering and tweaking.
