I'm 37 and have been out of paintball for about 10 years. I'm fat and outta shape so I'm looking for a little advice on how I should approach the game again. Any decent equipment ideas would be great. I'm looking at around 500 bucks budget on a gun.
Wow...welcome back. I'll skip the typical "bring oxygen" jokes.
Take it slow. Let the young bucks run the front and when they run out of paint they're all yours. Warm up. stretch. Drink lots of water the days before. Gear is a personal choice. I'm an old school, mechanical only, rec ball player - not in it for the permanent welts and glory. If you are using field paint and chronoing at 280 they all shoot the same. A Tippmann 98 or A5 if you like the look. Or maybe a Spyder Xtra for something a little lighter. High Pressure air is getting cheaper and cheaper so a nice 70/4500 isn't to far out of reach. Don't spend money on barels.
But hey, no matter what I tell you 20 others will have 20 other ideas. The most important factor these days is picking a good playing environment. Whether it's at a commercial field or back yard play the people you ball with are going to determine the fun factor. Get what ever suits you and your style...and most of all , keep it fun and friendly.
