Need help with my Bob Long Species.

04 May 2011 - 07:29 PM

Alright, as many of you know by now, I just recently purchased a Bob Long 2K4 Species. I truthfully know little to nothing about this marker and the guy didn't have the owners manual. Allegedly the marker hadn't been used in two years and since I was wanting to make sure I wasn't buying a broken marker I aired it up and squeezed of a few rounds. I do not know the last time maintenance was performed on this marker, but I'm sure it could use a complete tear down/cleaning/relubing. I need an owners manual for assistance, but don't know where to find one. I've looked at Bob Long's website, but I don't see a manual for a 2004 Intimidator. Also, do I lube it with DOW33 or what?

When I aired the marker up and tried to shoot it, I heard a pop, but the paintball merely plopped out of the barrel and hit the ground a couple feet in front of me. the second shot sent the next paintball a good 100' and all there after went approx 150' or so. Was it some sort of bolt stick and severe first shot drop off? I figure lubing the marker may fix this issue, but again, I'm not sure how exactly to go about it.

My new/used baby.

Alright, a short while back I was asking what a particular marker was worth as I found one being sold locally. Initially, I pretty much only wanted the tank (a 68/45 Crossfire) and was pretty much planning to sell the rest to try and come close to breaking even. Nothing like a free tank, right? However, thanks to Trum_15, I really started to debate keeping the marker. Well, I have now made the purchase. I bought the following package for $350.

2K4 Bob Long Species w/ Hybrid grips and CP on/off ASA.

Crossfire 68/4500 w/ Dye tank cover (born date 08/07)

Halo loader

NXE pod pack w/ 4 VL pods (there was supposed to be 5, but he doesn't know what happened to the fifth).

Three barrel swabs (not pictured)

JT goggles (not pictured)

As you can see, there are the notorious magical stickers plastered on the marker an loader. :dodgy:

As for the marker, it doesn't look too bad, there a a few typical signs of wear, but no major scratches that I have seen.I was unable to test the marker before purchasing as we met in the local Dillon's parking lot for the exchange. However, the solenoid does click when the trigger is pulled. Sadly, that has been the extent of my testing.

The loader had batteries in it, but one had exploded and leaked. I was able to get the loader to work with a 9V, but the holder for the AA's needs to be cleaned for it to properly work.

Anyways, I was just kinda wanting to show off my new toy. And hear any more info on weather or not it was truly a good buy. I'm thinking it was, but time will tell the tale.

And since I'm asking about price and whatnot, I'll try keeping it legit.

How much might this gear be worth.

24 April 2011 - 12:33 PM

Alright, maybe I posted this in the wrong section earlier, since it has even gotten one view.

As I said in the other thread, I found someone selling a bob long species, a Halo B loader, Crossfire 68/45, and a NXE pod pack with pods. I don't know anything about any of this gear as far as their condition and whatnot, as I'm waiting an a response, but lets assume the items show general signs of use.

I'd like to know what you guys think these items are worth separate and as a package deal.

Bob long Species (likely stock)

Halo B (probably a few scratches, maybe a crack or two, and likely covered in stickers)

68/45 Crossfire tank (probably out of hydro with 5-10 years left on it's overall life)

NXE pod pack with pods (size unknown)

Any input, other than FIRST, would be helpful.

Are there any current codes for AnsGear?

I'm going to be buying some stuff from Ansgear (thanks to my sister :D) and was wondering if there's any current codes for free stuff, decent discounts on certain items, or anything of that nature.

Should I or not?

Well, this special running on the Vlocity has got me tempted to buy one. My current hoppers are Ricochet, I have an AK and a 3 Apache hoppers. I have no problems whatsoever with my Ricochet hoppers, but the $35 Vlocity is awfully tempting. I mean the Vlocity is a force feed loader, my current hoppers are merely agitating hoppers. If I bought one I'd opt for the Dynasty upgrades for a total of around $47.

At the same time, I have other upgrades I'd like to get, but I only have so much money I can spend on paintball, my car needs work and that takes priority.

The other upgrades I'm really looking into are a blackheart kit for my SP-1, a stock, remote line, L7 bolt, and Apex 2 barrel. I don't have but $200 to spend on paintball, so I'm just not too sure what to do. The Apex 2 doesn't come in Ion/GoG threads, so I'd get it in Cocker threads so I can use it on my other markers and likely use a thread adapter for the SP-1. I contacted Empire and they couldn't tell me if the barrel will be released in GoG threads any time soon. given my limited funds would it make more sense to buy the laoder or spend that extra money on other upgrades?

Then again, at this same time i have a couple projects on the back burner that I'm trying to figure out, which will require some cash if I continue on with them at this point in time.

Man, decisions, decisions.
