In Topic: this place is to quiet

its just forums in general

Everyone is on Facebook. When we launched in 2008, Facebook was still pretty quiet. A year later, the iphone came out, and by 2011 more and more people were using Facebook instead of forums.

The site is here for you guys, not for us. If you want to use it, it's here. If you don't, it's still here.

We're going to continue to shave it down, consolidate it, and reduce it down dramatically to try to liven it up a little.

But, think about your day - how much time you spend on Facebook? And how much time do you spend on forums? Now you have your answer to your question :-)

I'll be there again as usual. This time I have to be honest, I didn't even hardly make an attempt to talk to a few TechPBers, other than Willie, Kevin, and Orange.. I was there with my two brothers and since my last time at LL3 the TechPB staging area seemed like it was very sequestered into groups of people who all knew eachother well. At LL3 it was just a huge conglomerate of people who had only seen screen names and text before LL, all hanging out and having fun. I hope to see that again next year.

Well half the team was staged near the spawn, the other half staged in the pits

This year was completely different, since many of us had leadership roles on the field, we staged near the hospital.

I was thinking you can up the point value of the skirmishes, make them too valuable to miss. The only one I played on Saturday was really fun, I'd hate to see them go away altogether.

They would have to be 200+ points in order for it it be worth sending people to

Viper's missions for Living Legends have always been fairly simple. We'll follow this map-

LL5-map.jpg

2PM Mission Card

Mission A) Gain or lose 50 points by holding Merida

Mission B) Gain 100 points by capturing Tikal

The current skirmishes were only worth 44 TOTAL, meaning even if you won, you wouldn't get more than 44 points. Most of the time, the score was something like 30 to 14

In the example above, if you lose Merida, your team LOSES 50 points (you get 50 points taken away). And if you have too many people in the skirmishes and you can't capture Tikal, well obviously you're not getting those points either.

This is what happened to us on Saturday

We'd gain 30 points from winning the skirmish

We'd lose 50 points because we'd lose the slapstick on the field because we were down on players (now we are negative 20 points)

And because we didn't have enough players on the field, we couldn't get to the 100 point mission

So by focusing on the skirmish, we went negative.

They would have to make the points for the skirmish so high, that winning it would have to be a higher point value than the missions on the field that you risked.
